Akira
Katana
This Japanese
mono steel katana is hand forged by the Jewel forge. You will get an excellent
functional katana at a very affordable price !
The Akira line of Swords are hand made from T10 high carbon steel. These
monosteel blades are usually stronger and more durable than folded katana
swords because the metal that is used is more pure and doesn't require
the forging & folding process used to perfect lower quality metals. Of
course these swords won’t show you a hada (pattern).
Like all of the swords
from the Jewel forge, the Akira Katana does feature very nice Japanese
fittings, cotton ito and sageo. As you can see, the itomaki does show
nicely formed diamonds and is very tight ! Furthermore, the balance of
the Akira is superb and ideal for the Iaido and tameshigiri (cutting)
practitioner.
The blade does come
with a high-grade hybrid polish, which is a mixture of using modern techniques
and machinery. The first stages of the polishing are done by machine (in
order to save time and lower the overall cost of the katana) while the
final stages are done by hand to accents each line in the blade and enhances
the Hamon.
