Paul Chen swords
have always been known for quality and value. Chen’s commitment
to quality comes blazing through with one of his newest designs –
the Tree Monkey Katana. The Tree Monkey is a very unique and interesting
sword that is designed around the proverb of the three monkeys.
Hear no evil, see
no evil, and speak no evil, as the saying goes; if you know the proverb
then you will easily identify with this sword. In its design it features
the 3 wise monkeys (Mizaru, Kikazru, and Iwazru) and displays them prominently
on the Tsuba (guard), the Kashira (butt cap), and the Fuchi (collar) of
this katana. All of the fittings are made of a dark brown copper, with
a few gold fittings to give it that extra flare.
The forged and folded
blade is made in the forges of Hanwei. As with all Paul Chen forged blades
it is suitable both for collectors and for sword practice. This sword
comes with a maintenance kit, and a cloth sword bag.
The Tree Monkey
Katana as a Collector’s Item
If you are a collector of fine swords, you will want to add this one to
your list of swords-to-get! The Tree Monkey Katana is truly unique. Other
features that will appeal to the collector include: real rayskin wrapped
tightly in a brown Ito, beautiful lines on the blade, and some other very
unique features. For any collection the Tree Monkey Katana is an excellent
high-end sword.
The Tree Monkey
Katana as a Functional Sword
The practitioners who are going to want to add the Tree Monkey to their
list of swords-to-get are those who practice Iaido. The tree monkey is
suitable for most types of sword practice, but with its light weight,
and 11.5cm balance point it will be an excellent sword for the Iaidoka!
