The blade of the Shinto Katana is hand-forged of 1065 high-carbon steel. It is then differentially tempered using clay to the perfect hardness of 60HRC on the blade edge, and 40HRC in the body of the blade. As a functional and light sword not many can match this katana.

The sword also represents a truly remarkable piece of work form Paul Chen’s Hanwei Line. The Shinto dragons that are carved into the Tsuba and Kashira of this piece are really set off by the finely antiqued and gold accented fittings.
