As a step up from the entry-level practical Katana, you can’t go wrong choosing this sword. It will serve you well as a collector’s katana or as a functional sword.

This practical plus, a good battle ready samurai katana (for light targets), weighs in at 965 grams and has a balance point at 11.5cm. This makes it a good entry level sword for any type of sword practice. It also features a genuine rayskin with a leather wrap Ito (braid). The tang of the Practical Plus is double pegged making it easy to the the Tsuba (guard) of this sword. Whether you’re starting your collection or getting into sword practice this sword will give you a great start!

The Practical Plus Katana as a Collector’s Item
As a step up from the Practical Katana, the Practical Plus features a wave pattern hammon on the blade which adds more flare to this sword. It also includes a more decorative Tsuba, and fittings that will make it look good in any collection.

The Practical Plus Katana as a Functional Sword
For the budo practitioner, the Iaidoko, or for light tameshigiri the practical plus katana will serve you well. It is light and well balanced, making it an excellent sword to get you started.
