Kill Bill (The Movie)
Kill Bill is the fourth film by writer-director Quentin Tarantino. Originally conceived as one film, it was released in two separate “volumes”. In volume 1 we meet Beatrix Kiddo- The Bride- . She is a female assassin, a trained killer who has been betrayed by The Deadly Viper Assassination Squad led by her former boss Bill who shot her down at her wedding and leaving thinking she was dead. . The Bride awakes four years later and she sets out to begin her quest for vengeance.
With help of one of Bill’s former tutors, retired sword maker Hattori Hanzo. The Bride sets out to eliminate her first two targets on her list: Vernita Green, who has retired from the Deadly Viper Assassin Squad and has a daughter and O-Ren Ishii, who is now the kingpin of the Toyko criminal underworld and leader of the “Crazy 88″ crime gang. In Okinawa, The Bride acquires a legendary bladed weapon from the last of the world’s great samurai sword -smiths. In Tokyo, O-Ren Ishii is surrounded by henchmen and holds court in a massive nightclub/ restaurant complex, the House of Blue Leaves.
The Bride’s assault upon this stronghold is a pitched martial arts battle with hundreds of black clad soldiers from O-Ren’s personal shock squad, The Crazy 88s. The Bridge engaging in a roaring rampage of revenge will not rest until every member of The Deadly Viper Assassin Squad is dead and she will save Bill for last. The Bride continues in Kill Bill Vol. 2 searching for her former partners in the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, who, in a furious assault, attempted to murder her and her unborn child on her wedding day.
As The Bride faces off against allies-turned-nemeses Budd and Elle Driver, she flashes back to the day of her deadly wedding, and we learn of how she was recruited to join the DiVAS, her training under unforgiving martial arts master Pai Mei, and her relationship with Squad leader Bill, which changed from love to violent hatred. Kill Bill by Quentin Tarantino can be described as a glorification of the samurai sword, katana.
The kill bill samurai sword is a sword that has the qualities of the katana and is handmade by a sword-smith who is the last of his kind , a smith who knows the secrets of making a perfect katana. The way Tarantino plays out the action scenes in the film is truly a work of art. His visual style here is untouchable. This is not serious violence, like in a war film or even a police movie. This is the equivalent of an anime brought to life. It is shown that a samurai sword can do more damage than a lightsaber. Swordplay here is the key. Samurai swords are treated respectfully, even reverently in the film, and if anything, the Japanese code of honor is the one principle that is upheld in the film.
There is no basis of morality, no balance between right and wrong The style of Quentin Tarantino has turned something that would normally be a horrible thing to watch into something beautifully animated.
