Sora Katana
The Sora
Katana does feature a unique forged and folded blade which shows a very
nice hada (steel structure).
Instead of starting,
like most blades, with a single layered billet, this blade starts from a
nine layer billet (106à steel mixed with T10 steel) that is folded between
9-12 times. In ancient times this process was necessary to get the impurities
out of the steel. If we’re honest we need to say that these day’s,
this process is only done to follow/honor the traditional way of forging
a blade. So
it doesn’t make a blade stronger or superior than a monosteel katana
for example and in fact, if you’re looking for a good tameshigiri
sword that is able to cut harder targets such as bamboo, we advise you
to consider a monosteel katana !As
you can see, this katana does come with a hybride polish which means that
the first stages of the polishing process were done by machine and the
last one’s by hand. This process, while faster than a traditional
hand-polish,makes, still has a brilliant finish with a prominent hada
and hamonline
Once more, Japanese
fittings (Fuchi – kashira – menuki) were imported from Japan,
as well as the cotton ito and sageo. The balance of this sword makes it
a very suitable sword for any Japanese Martial Arts practitioner !
